el capitan
Hi, I'm no expert, anyway string choice is such an individual thing, but I do own a Macca & used to own an Elitist. To me,gauge & wrap are the first considerations.I go for light gauge phosphor bronze-12's and I like more than 52 on the bottom-preferably 54. After that I'll go for almost any American make and Rotosound are fine too.I also think most are way too expensive, so I GO TO CLOSING DOWN SALES,BARGAIN BINS AND Ebay! Tell us about your Texan! Cheers, El.

Red 333
Lefty, I use Gibson Masterbuilt Phosphor Bronze or J200 strings on all my acoustics (generally 12's), so I haven't experimented to find out which strings sound "best," but that's largely a personal decision. I like the Gibbys so I stick to 'em. That and I have dozens of sets : ) I suggest you start with your favorite strings, and if you're not satisfied with what you hear and how the guitar feels overall, try some different brands with each string change.
