gunnlaugursig
Hello. I've been looking for a proper wiring diagram to fit three Seymour Duncan pickup's in my epiphone black beauty 3. I've searched SD website with no luck. Does any of you know where I can find one?
Ricochet
There's a couple here: http://www.gibson.com/Service/Tech/Schematics Obviously you'll need to translate the wiring colours... http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/schematics/schematics.php?schematic=color_codes
gunnlaugursig
Thanks Ricochet I found this Gibson Ace Frehley Les Paul Signature (3 pick up). I'll go for this wiring.
layboomo
This is the best way to wire a 3 PUP Les Paul IMHO.
gunnlaugursig
Thanks layboomo But what if this is a four conductor pickup, how do I do it then? And how do I translate the color codes?
layboomo
Well unless you are going to tap the coils it's pretty straight forward really. You just need to connect the 2 coils (typically red/white wires) and then it's just a hot and a ground per the diagram. You just need to translate whatever color code the pickup manufacturer used to this diagram. So.......for the SD pickups you would connect the red and white wires together and tape them off( or use some shrink wrap) and then black it your hot and green is the ground and if there is a bare wire that goes to ground as well. Then just follow the schematic.
gunnlaugursig
Thanks again. I read this article to understand "tap the coil's". If I go for the coil tap option, how many push-pull pots would I need?
layboomo
3 one for each pickup you want to tap.

gunnlaugursig
I finally got some time yesterday to install my new Seymour Duncan pickups. Pearly Gates in bridge position, Jazz in middle and neck. Nice and very clean sound
