modelmonster
Hi. new to this group.. Just picked up a popa chubby korina v with p-90's! it is a very cool guitar. however....i want to change out the pickups . Opened it up and the wiring is a mystery to me ... 2 volume and 1 tone, all pots 500k. but the volume pots each have a capacitor AND a resister..! the tone pot also has a capacitor. never seen this before . cant find any schematics for it .. any thoughts on rewiring this? should i pull the resisters and rewire it like any other p 90? any help would be great ! thanks guys.. Hungrycat
Those are cool guitars. I've only seen one other before. You gots to post some pictures. In regards to the wiring, I'm assuming that's the spec for the artist. If I were you I wouldn't mess with it too much, just un-solder the pickup leads, and solder the new ones in place. Simple as that.

Ricochet
A cap and a resistor over the two open poles of the volumepot would indicate a Treblebleed circuit.
modelmonster
Ricochet.. so for a guy that has the bad habit of never messing with the tone nobs and turning everything on the guitar to 10 , should the resistors stay or go or does it matter? Ricochet
If you're sure you will keep everything at 10, by all means...neuter those (volume-)pots.
modelmonster
Maybe i should wire in the new pups and see how i like it first? what kind of tone change can expect if i DO take out the resistors? thanks for all your help guys! this forum is great. peeper
First of all they are caps not resistors. Second, what do you want to change about the sound. Third, what is the values of the caps currently there and their configuration.
peeper
Oops, I see whats going on, The resistor only changes the taper of the pot, don't really effect the sound. Caps on the other hand...
modelmonster
yeah it has resistors AND caps. cant tell resistor value . but caps say 2a102j.. and then the tone cap says 2a223j?
Ricochet
The resistor also helps to reintroduce some mids to a possible thin sounding "cap only" treblebleed. But again, only if you work the volumeknob.
peeper
You determine resistor value my the color bands.
