The op claimed that he got that info from Gibson. I was looking into it because someone on Craigslist up here has one listed for $100 with a hard case. In 1989 it was changed to the "hockey stick" shape and ran that way until 1996 when it was redesigned to the "batwing" shape. Somewhere between 1989 and 1996 there was a slight redesign on the hockey stick shape making it a bit narrower, but basically the same design...to avoid another lawsuit, I believe.
