animalfarm
Was talking with co-worker earlier this evening, mentioned guitars, and he told me he had inherited a guitar from his grandfather. He knew it was a Washburn, said it was 1908, described the round sticker inside, the "hourglass" shape, and the 2 tone back with inlay stripe. He's not a git player, so pressing for more details was useless. I asked for pics. But based on what I heard, this appears to be what he has: http://newportnewsguitarlessons.com/Sales/WashburnParlorGuitar.htm Does anyone have any links to a site with MORE pics of 1908 Washburns? Ship of fools
There is no site about Washburns from that year I do have a book written by a leading expert regarding these guitars and some are very nice players indeed especially if they are free of previous repairs or cracks and can garner a small fortune. But without pictures of the guitar and the label and the number on top of the headstock its hard to tell exactly what he has, there were several different models from that time so if he sends you pics I can get you closer to what he might have.Ship
zombywoof
Up to around the Depression, Washburns were made by Lyon and Healy (George Lyon's middle name was Washburn). They ranged from the Plain Jane guitar to some really elaborately decorated models. Without pics though, it is impoosible to identify theguitar.
