kink56
I wonder if you could settle a controversy for me? Some people contend that 1996 was the first year for production Historic R0s ( 1960 Reissues ). That being 0 6001. Some people think that R0s were availible since the Historic R series Les Pauls started in mid 1993. Are there any 1993, 1994 and/or 1995 Historic Les Paul 1960 Reissues ( R0s )? I know you cannot give production figures, but do you have records of production R0s from any or all of these 3 years 1993, 1994 and/or 1995? Custom Admin
i have copies of Gibson price lists from 1993 and 1995, and both show a 1960 Flametop Reissue as being offered in those years. The April '93 catalog lists the product code for this as LPR6, and the September price list shows the product code as LPR0...LPR0 is still the code used today to designate Historic '60 reissues. kink56
Yes that would make sense because the 1960 Flametop RI was a R6 before the Historics came out, and the Historics came out in mid 1993, and that is when they changed to R0!! Do you have any verified examples of 1993-1995 R0s being made? Do you have any serial numbers for these years in your data base? Do you show a 1995 SN 0 5008? Or 0 5021? How about 0 4003? or 0 3003? Custom Admin
the earliest example i can find of a guitar shipping with the LPR0 SKU is 3/1994. interestingly, this guitar had the "Classic" serial number style (24035). In December of 1994, an LPR0 with the serial number 04001 was shipped...looks like maybe that was the "first" R0...
kink56
Cool Do you have anything on 0 5008, 0 5021 or 0 4003? And then I will leave you alone. I invite ANYONE with 1993-1995 R0s to come forward with pictures or stories about your Early R0s before 1996.

That makes sense to me.

kink56
Thanks, Early R0s seem to be VERY rare!! I thank you for your time.
guitarvoodoo
While on the subject - even more rare than early R0's - is early LEFTY R0's. If any, lol. Can one see from the info in the system if any lefty R0's were made in 94-97? They will most likely have the suffix LH on the end of the their designation, I guess. /GV
