Can I not order a Gibson like this? .. essentially a 359 in a larger 335 shape...or am I not looking hard enough?

  1.
  2. 335 body shape
  3. GIBSON name on the headstock
  4. gold grover tuners
  5. ebony fretboard
  6. block mother of pearl inlays
  7. f-shape sound holes
  8. two humbuckers
  9. 3 way selector
  10. fixed bridge
  11. side mount jacks
  12. Ebony, figured antique red or figured sunburst finish
  13. 6 position varitone switch (not mandatory)

If not, I guess I need to give up something. [sad]

Lucille is almost there, but has no f-holes or Gibson branding (still cant beleive they would do that).

Sounds to me like your describing the ES-355 of yesteryear (with the exception of the side mounted jacks, and many had some sort of vibrola). Exactly what your describing would be an ES-355 with a stop-tail, figured top, Grover tuners and side mounted jacks.

There has been some discussion here on whether the 355 is still being made. A current production model ES-345 would get you pretty darn close (rosewood fingerboard, usually a plain-top).

Do some Google research on the 355 and 345 models as they were "upgraded" 335's similar to what you describe. As there have been slight "variations" over the years, you might find that what your looking for is/was made as a regular production model at some time.
