petew Posted September 17, 2010 Share Posted September 17, 2010 Hello there guys, my names Pete and im 22 and from England. There has been a Gibson J45 in my family for a few years now. My Grandma remembers paying £50 for this 'beginners' guitar back in the early 1960's. It has been passed down to me as i used to play a lot of guitar and have done for years but im really trying to just trace this guitar back to find out exactly how old it is and find out some rough estimations of what its worth now. I should have attached a picture so hopefully you can see it, the serial number at the back is barely readable but the numbers are 820662. zombywoof Posted September 17, 2010 Share Posted September 17, 2010 The serial number, pickguard, bridge and finish point to the guitar being made in 1966. Hard to tell what guitars are worth these days so the best thing to do is just look around eBay and other places on the internet to see what folks are willing to pay for them. I can't remember when they changed the LG-1 to the B-25 but I think it was close to that year. Does it have ladder or x bracing? Looks like it is in great condition!
