Johnny Pisano and his wife Lisa who have owned the shop for twenty years have decided to pull the plug, it is sad to see them go. Old Boise Guitar Shop was a great shop Johnny and his shop will be sorely missed and not replaced, ever. So if you are lucky enough to be in Boise before Oct. 1st, drop by his shop and say goodbye, I hear he is making some killed deals...and he has some awesome vintage stuff, you may want to google Old Boise Guitar.

I regret not going in there when I was in town last summer.

That's too bad.

As I'm thinking about moving to the Boise area soon, where will I be able to shop for quality instruments?

There is a GC in town, with Old Boise Guitar closing we will still have Dorsey and Dunkley Music and Welch Music, these are full service stores catering to music teachers and offering student rentals. Doyles Broadway Music is a small shop specialising in vintage guitars and amps, the owner is a retired LA sessions player who worked with many big acts of the 70's. Gigs Music is a good shop.

But if you are in Boise and want a really cool guitar there is one place to go, Bolin Guitar. You have seen his guitars many times, ZZTop and Stones and many other acts use his gear and he will build one just for you and it won't cost you a fortune...

It was not all guitar center's fault- or the economy-Gibson refused to let Old Boise continue its dealership, which they had had since they openned 20plus years ago. Reason- they only work with the big shops-In othe r words GC can sell gibson, and not Old Boise.Unfortunately the quality of Gibsons coming through GC is the reason I bought a used one from Ebay. The Chineese Epi's necks were finished better than the Studio LP. You could cut a finger running your hand down the side of te neck...

I have been doing business with Johnny since 1997, for what ever the reason this will be a loss for our area. Just a great old fashion guitar shop, every guitar was cared for like a child waiting to go home from the hospital, every guitar that went out the door was setup and clean.....
