Sinner 13
As many of you know I recently got A 56 RI Epi Gold Top LP in a trade. just a couple questions. first, all of these I have seen have grover tuners, mine has Klusen Deluxe's. second, it is stamped "Limited edition" on the headstock, the ser # is gone and it is stamped USED under the finish. third, I have seen that a lot of these have poly finishes?(I may be mistaken). this one has the unmistakable aroma of nitro and the finish is starting to spider. plays awesome, sound great, any light on the subject is appreciated. flyingarmadillo
My best guess would be that it's a factory refurbished guitar - it came in under warranty, and due to whatever issues it had, Epi replaced the original owner's guitar with a new one rather than a repair. Rather than trash a limited edition guitar, Epi then rebuilt it to bring it back to original specs and sold it as a factory rebuilt. I've seen a Lennon Casino done the same way (no ser # and "used" stamp).

The SG Special I bought is the same way, however it still has a serial number where the neck bolts to the body
