ej300 price

Hi

I'm just about to purchase an epiphone ej300s vintage sunburst. I am curious to what sort of price is right for one of these. I have been looking to buy an ej200 for the past month. i like a big sound, loud as possible and something that resonates and brings the roof down. i have been using my takamine eg523sc for the last 3years and haven't had any problems with it but i just want a change.

does anyone have both these guitars or a combination of the 3? whats the difference? is my takamine laminated?

is the ej300 a guitar that goes up in value with it being discontinued? are these super rare and what would you guys pay for one?

cheers

my band is Black Sun

They're not super rare, they pop up on ebay probably once or twice a month. I think people that own them want to believe they are worth more than they really are, as i've seen some auctions start way too high and no one even bids.

Your Takamine has a solid top. If you're looking for sheer output, you should probably just go with the EJ-200. The laminate sides and top will just project the sound, and people will be have their fingers in their ears to stop the bleeding in anything smaller than Albert Hall. The EJ-300 is going to be slightly softer volume wise but marginally richer in tone. Even with a solid top, we're still talking epiphone pricepoint quality, so it's not like you're getting a Gibson SJ-200 top by going with the EJ-300, and the sound differences probably won't be noticed by anyone besides you, any guitar playing buddies, and tone-nazis, who you shouldnt listen to in the first place.

If there was a EJ-300 with a hardshell case to pop up now, I'd say fair estimate would be between $400 and $550, depending on how bad you want it.

This might help you in knowing what a nut is.

What he did was swap his platuc nut and saddle ( down on the bridge ) to a bone ( http://www.guitarsaddles.com/products.asp )saddle to give it a crisper sound.Ship

As for price they can run you about $150.00-$300.00 in excellent shape ( excellent means like something almost brand new with say only a few pick marks )

oh right i get you now. that website is very useful thanks. i am wanting my ej300 to sound as big and loud as possible and I want the sustain to be as out of this world as possible. any ideas on which saddle and nut to get, the most expensive one on that website is the 'walrus ivory' but which make do i need the gibson????

EJ300vs I am sorry but nobody is going to be able to tell you which strings are going to give you any particular sound, you really do need to experiment with differnt brands to find the right one that works with your guitar. What may work on mine might not give you the sound you are looking for on yours, its to subjective of a thing for us to know what you like. But I will add some more for you to learn with. http://www.flatpick.com/Pages/News_And_Reviews/Gear.html#ST1

Happy reading but you'll see just what I mean because I don't agree with every thing he says here either.Ship

and thats some cool music you guys play
