MrNylon
SG Std. basses do have a bit of neck dive. I started using a fairly short, wide leather Levi's brand strap. The bass doesn't dive. It stays in place and is comfortable for long sessions. I do have a tendency to play however with the neck at a greater angle maybe than some or most. I was thinking it the balance of the SG Std. may not be a design flaw. It may have been thought to be played neck more upright like a stand up bass. Gaolee
I have discovered that I like playing the EB-2 in a near vertical position, but the Thunderbird settles into a more horizontal position and feels just fine, too.
MrNylon
I do believe the angle has a lot to do with the comfort and playability.

Gaolee
I do believe the angle has a lot to do with the comfort and playability. Absolutely. That's why I'm surprised to find myself playing the 'Bird in a near horizontal position very comfortably. I have always played guitar and bass in a very upright position. I guess old dogs can learn new tricks every so often, given the right tools and incentives.

MrNylon
I think I may have figured out why EB and SG Std. basses have a neck dive issue. The bass body is very short. Most of the other bass bodies have a greater distance from one strap knob to the other. More stability with the greater distance.
