Truss rod ruined filed

in the thumbnail pic with the two headstock pics, are they the same model? i ask because of the holly inlays they are not set in the same place in relation to the tuners.

 

I'm with you... there are several things that lead me to believe the guitar on the left is not a genuine Gibson. Even the picture of the packing slip looks bogus to me. I would not be so quick to blame this on poor Gibson QC. Lord knows they let enough go by, but I think there is a shell game going on here. :angry:

genuine gibson 86 and 2002 model. The same defects are in 5 models new from dealer (Traditional studio standards)

 

 

How can a 1986 Gibson be "new from dealer"? This would account for the difference in headstock width, fret gauge, and positioning of the holly flower... but I thought we were talking about new stock from the same year.

 

Sorry. Thank you for the pictures, however. That certainly would explain the nature of the defect.
