musicmaker99
I have a Wildkat that has a 9 number serial # I (as in eye) 04022533, I read somewhere that means it's a second but there';s nothing stamped on the headstock indicating this, just the serial number which deciphers to Oct, 2004, Sein plant Korea / china. Thanks!
musicmaker99
I04022533 is a regular serial# the higher selling models do have one digit more at the end Thanks., kinda thought so. Every epi 2nd I've ever seen has " used" stamped on the back.
BillyGibson
Musicmaker You have a first quality Korean made insturment. I = Saien Korea. The next two numbers are the year of mfg. 04 = 2004 If it were a second, the a USED stamp would have been stamped into the wood over the number and you would no longer see the original serial number. You done good. Real Good.
bobouz
Just to demonstrate that consistency is not Epiphone's middle name, I have a 2004 Korean Peerless Casino that is a factory second. The back of the headstock is marked "2nd" (rather than "used"), and there was never a serial number in that location. The serial number appears only on the inside label (R04Jxxxx). The serial number for casinos, dots, and sherri's is always on a label inside the body, which can be seen through the f-hole. It's never on the back of the headstock on those models. I'm not sure where it is supposed to be on a Wildcat.

I've owned three Sheratons and a Dot made at the Saein factory ("I" serial numbers) in Korea. They all had the serial number stamped on the back of the headstock. On these, the paper label had the model name, while the serial number line was left blank. For Saein (and often Unsung), this was more the norm rather than the exception from at least 2003 until production of these models switched to China. BillyGibson
My 06 "I" Korean Sheraton has the serial number on the headstock. My '09 Chinese Casino has the # on the lable in the f-hole. Which I just sold to make room for the Sheraton. I had an'08 Dot Deluxe. I recall its number was on the lable too. I think they may have switched on these around '07? Or a little later - perhaps when they took the "EE" off the number?
