ES-330 Serial Number

I just bought an ES-330 (Custom Shop), serial number CS052851. According to your serial number page, the Custom Shop serial number format is CSYRRRR:

CS stands for "Custom Shop"

Y indicates the production year

RRRR indicates the guitar's place in the sequence of production

So, going by that format, my serial number has an extra number. Is the Y sometimes YY? Or is my serial number a fake?

Thanks

richard

Really? That's strange. I thought the "05" indicated it was made in 2005...

If there's really only 1 digit for year, then how will anyone be able to tell the difference between a guitar made in 2010 and one made in 2020 (both 0)?

Or the difference between one made in 2001 and 20011 (both 1)?

Bought my ES330 around 1975-can't find serial #, don't know where to look on Guitar.  Does not appear to be

anywhere on neck or body.  Anyone know where to look or if there is even a serial # on the older ES330s?

To my knowledge Gibson Custom Shop serial numbers are CS Y(year) X(1=Memphis or 2=Nashville) NNNN (order it was produced).

My guess then is your 330 CS052851 is from 2020, made in Memphis and is the 2851st guitar produced that year.
