renin74
I have an es 333 that I have put 57 classics and 57 classic plus in it. I have seen that Gibson Custom has burstbucker pros in the block neck es335. How do those sound? Is it too "hot"? I feel as though the es 137 classic has humbuckers that are too hot, and 57 classics are smoother. Also any input on fat necks on es 335s as all the ones I have played have thin necks? thanks,
Tim Plains
I have one. I don't know how it compares to a 335 with '57s anymore. I'm so used to the way this 335 sounds. I don't know what to tell ya...it sounds great! Initially, I wanted to swap the BB Pros out for '57s, but I'm glad I didn't. I guess the best advice a stranger can give you is go out and play them...let your ears decide.
Col F
My 335 has '57s and my LP has Burstbucker Pros. The 335 most closely replicates the "old" 335s which are nice and "warm", and the Pros on the LP are somewhat hotter. 335s do sound excellent with the '57s. You certainly have some incredble ears...
renin74
I have a spare burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups that I might drop into the es333 one day, for now I like the 57s. I have a friend of mine that has a es137 classic and the pickups are hot in that guitar.
Guitarooster52
I very briefly had a chance to "strum" one unplugged and it sounded quite different unplugged than the normal 335 Dot. This is the kind of thing you have to test drive in an amp similar to the one you use to decide.
