Kelvinator
Nice bass in pretty good condition. It should go for more than $999.00, but the market has been soft. Good time to buy - bad time to sell............
Kelvinator
She went for $1,225.00; a fair price IMHO.
vincentw
Yeah that's a fair price. Those basses sound really good. The new one's are oversized and chambered. We'll see how the tone on those is once they hit stores.
Kelvinator
ok price, I guess, the new one are described as oversized I wonder the the earlier ones were also. On the Gibson site the specs give the body dimensions as 14.1" X19". My '01 & '05 are 13" X 17", so the new one is quite a bit bigger. I find the bodies on the the older model to be quite comfortable (but a little heavy). I don't know if the added girth will add sustain or change the tone. Even though these are chambered, could they be lighter than the old model? I didn't see a weight listed in the specs. I do prefer the ebony board and the massive Warwick bridge on the older models; the Tune-O-Matic looks pretty wimpy in comparison. It would be interesting to compare them side by side, but then I'd probably want one!
Kelvinator
I guess I found out why the boards are not ebony anymore! http://www.theblaze....r-illegal-wood/ Read all the text: it looks like you have to document & prove where & when the woods & nuts were produced. Your Guitar could be confiscated, and I'm probably a criminal. The Gibson Lounge has much more on this; be sure to watch the video posted by customer service: http://www.gibson.co...bson-0825-2011/ This is unbelievable - 500+ people sent home; one more nail in the jobs coffin - atta boy Big Brother!
