NoFrills
1 and 5 sometimes 1,5,1 while muting all the other strings. As in the 1 and the 5 of the Diatonic scale. Index and ring finger used, in 1.5.1 Index, Ring and pinky under the ring finger on the next string. In standard tning the visual pattern is almost always 1 index, miss a fret, go down a string and place your ring finger on the next fret. If you know barre chords then only play the first two or three notes instead of all of them.
