Rattle Posted February 6, 2008 Share Posted February 6, 2008 I've just picked up a Custom Shop '68 Custom 5A quilt top in tri-burst. What a stunning Guitar! We don't usually get to see them here in the UK. I spotting it on a US website, so made enquiries through the main UK importer and I believe it was made to order. The serial No is 080128 - it's that new! As it's so fresh, I wondered if it was possible to give the exact date it was finished (apart from Jan 08)? The US website say they are fitted with '57 classic's and although there are obvious tone differences between bridge and neck P/U's, I just wondered if it was a pair of '57 classic's or a '57 classic and a classic plus? I used flash as it makes the quilt show up real nice but makes the colors look a bit stark. This Musicians Friend photo is a better one for the true color. They tell me they have only imported 3 '68 Custom quilt top's, mine in tri-burst and two firemist's. Now I really feel special, as it looks like I own the only tri-burst quilt top in the UK!!
