Versatile
what? All of the ones (3) I have played were real thin and toneless, much like a strat. not like a normal jazzmaster pickup... Can't think why... Other than the obvious lead/rhythm circuitry needing adjustment It does come alive with chorus/delay.... dc3c46
What I've found over the years is that a great American Fender will feel like a big step up over it's Mexican counterparts. That said you have to look too, just like many other manufacturers there will be guitars that speak to you and others that don't and they can be the exact same model. I know the American Special Stratocaster I picked up recently was the best Strat for me out of all of the American Standards, Deluxes, Worn series and a few others. +1 Got the American Special Tele and did not regret it. Excellent intstrument that can measure up to all the higher priced Teles.

I kept looking at the American Special Tele when I bought the Strat and if it wasn't for the used Highway One Tele I picked up earlier this year I would have had it. Great guitars.
