Malchik Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Well, I'm counting my pennies for my SG 61 reissue. I'm hoping to nab one by Christmas. I'm just curious if I'll find a PCB circuit or independent pots. I'm hoping to hear they'll have separate pots because I like to install my phase-reversal push-pull without buying all new components.
Jeff-7 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 As far as I know they still use independent pots, R9 is usually in the know on stuff like this you might shoot him a PM.
stein Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 If you can wire the little tabs on the pus-pull pots, wiring the rest should be EASY for you. I don't actually know the answer, but just a little opinion/perspective. That is, with all the variables in tone, feel, looks, etc., the pots are the last thing I would care about buying a new axe, because that is easy and cheap to change. But one thing I would say is that I see NO advantage to the PCB crap Gibson is using.
SG Jones Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Yes, you can swap out the pots even if it has a PCB. I broke one on one of my Les Pauls and had to replace it. You must take the nuts off ALL the pots and then push the board out of the back of the guitar by pushing on the top of the pots.
