surfgreen
Hello! Might anyone have any first hand experience comparing coil tap humbuckers to non coil tapped humbuckers? I heard, (have no idea personally) that coil tapped spec LP's might not have the same tone as a normal version when in humbucker mode. True? Malchik
No, when un-tapped they sound just like any four conductor humbucker. If you have a four conductor humbucker, you might as well take advantage of all the options you can have.
CaptainNemo68
Actually, I had problems with the Gibson Les Paul Classic Antique with stacked humbuckers and coil tap (this was back around 2007 or so). Whenever I coil tapped a pickup the volume would dissipate dramatically. On the other hand, I also had a Peavey Odyssey and it had standard side by side coiled humbuckers with coil tapping. The coil tapping was awsome and worked perfect.

CaptainNemo68
Is the the H-90 pups in that? Yes, I think it was the H-90 pups. They were essentially the stacked coil P100s with coil tapping. I don't own the guitar...I was only test driving it back in 2007. It was a beautiful guitar, but the sound...ehhhhhh
