music4love
Anyone one know what brand strings Gibson is putting on the new acoustics at the factory? Also, Im going to change out the stock bridgepins. I want warmth and sustain. Would ebony or rosewood be the better choice for my Hummingbird? Joe M
Gibson uses their own Masterbuilt strings, gauged 11-52 PB on most, if not all of their guitars coming from the factory. This is directly from Gibson when I asked the same question.

Anyone who's looked at a new Gibson lately knows that they come with 80/20, not PB, strings. The Gibson Montana GM posted the truth here. (Thanks to Cpt. Crash for finding Dennis's post.) -- Bob R

Cpt. Crash
Bob R is right. Tried D'addario lights; they are imho most resemblant to the factory strings (on a j-45). Right now I use EXP's, but I think the non-coated strings might be the ones. In the end of day, let your ears be the judge & play.
