Les Paul Tribute Plus

I'm a bit confused about the LP Tribute Plus. In a few months from now, I'm probably going to buy the Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus (of course I'm going to try it first [biggrin] ). To find some information, I've always been looking at this page : Tribute Plus

But yesterday I saw another post on this forum, referring to this page.

The page title is "Tribute Les Paul Standard", but the heading says "Les Paul Tribute Plus" and mentions the '57 Gibson Humbuckers too. So I figured it was just a mess-up in the page title, until I started comparing the specifications. One has 12" fingerboard radius, the other has 14".

They both show the headstock that says "Les Paul 1960 Tribute Plus", and that's the one I'm looking for.

Now, which webpage shows the actual Les Paul Tribute Plus? And is it the same guitar as the "Les Paul Tribute Plus Outfit" as shown on page 17 of the new Epiphone catalog?

Maybe it's a stupid question, but I'm really confused right now [confused]

If you go to this page and read the description, it says 14" radius. If you go to the spec page from the link at the top, it claims 12" radius. However, on this particular guitar, you can chose between a 1960's SlimTaper neck or an asymmetrical neck. The radius is a multiple-radii on the asymmetrical neck. I'm not sure if the 1960's neck has the 14" or 12" radius though.

Depending upon your taste, you have the choice of either a traditional 1960s SlimTaper™ neck profile or an asymmetrical neck profile. The 1960s SlimTaper™ is a comfortable "D"-shaped neck used on many '60s-era Kalamazoo-made guitars from Gibson and Epiphone. The newer asymmetrical neck has multiple radii and combines a more rounded "D" shape on the bass side of the neck with a flatter "C" shape on the treble side. Both profiles are available on the Tribute Plus series.

Oh thanks, so both pages are right? (just noticed that in the catalog they call it "standard" too)

Do you know what the advantages of both necks are? Just to be curious, because of course I'll choose the one that plays best (if they have both in stock).

It'll be a big change for me, because compared to my classical guitar, the nut is about 0.6 inches smaller ! [biggrin]

I dont know if both pages are right. They dont specify the radii for the different necks. Epiphone is pretty good for having wrong specs on their site. Most likely those pages were written by two different people, neither of which seemed to have much a of a grasp of the differences between the neck profile options.

The advantage to either neck is purely a matter of preference. I like a wider radius like a 14.

EDIT: Considering that most Epis are 14" radius, I would assume the the 1960's SlimTaper is a 14". I'm guessing the the asymmetrical neck if a 14/12" combo.

I think I remember the ones with a '60s profile being the "1960s Tribute" models.

The ones with the asymetrical profile were refered to as "2010 Tribute" models.

I'm pretty sure they both had the same specs and finishes otherwise...

This ^^ is not yet up on the wiki, LP Tribute plus, it is the newest model, IMO

and will replace the before mentioned discontinued or sold out models

I double checked with the press site and you are absolutely correct. I remember that section to be a bit confusing. I'll try to get it straightened out today. Thanks for the help, Pete. [thumbup]
