Dating Vintage J-45

Hello all: I have a gorgeous old J-45 that Dad bought bought used back in the early 70's, and he has now passed on, and I'm taking care of it, and playing the strings off it..Best I can figure it's a 68' with the numbers impressed into the back of the headstock..No made in the USA but the serial is 9199xx Can someone help me further date this old guitar...I wanna make sure I haven't been telling everyone all this time it's a 68' when maybe it's not Thank you..

Is the pickguard screwed to the top on your guitar?
