Replacement Bridge for Sheraton I

Hi Guys,

I'm new to the forum and really could use some help. I just picked up a 1989 Samick made Sheraton. I love it already. Unfortunately I need ...or rather want to replace the bridge. I'm not sure what bridge is on here. It looks like a Wilkinson roller bridge, but has what look to be normal, non-rolling saddles. The gold is almost all gone, and it's missing an intonation screw. I figured that I might as well replace it. Any thoughts about what to use? Stew Mac says that the Wilkinson roller bridge won't fit. I don't have any good pics of the bridge, but here's the guitar. It's not a standard Gibson style TOM.

Help?

Welcome to the forums RM, there's a great bunch around here, I hope you like it.

I can't help you with a specific bridge replacement, but the important measurements are the distance between the posts and the string spacing (from E to e).

Welcome to the forum, hopefully someone with the same model will reply.

I don't own a Sheraton, Casino nor am I an expert on the different specifications of other or older models, but as Rastus commented, you'll need to know the spacings of the posts (at least) to find a suitable replacement/upgrade part.

Here is one discussion regarding bridge specifications:

1997 Epiphone Riviera bridge replacement

FWIW, if making measurements with a precision scale marked in inches, convert fractional measurements into decimal inch, and 1 inch equals 25.4mm.

Post spacing is measured in the center-to-center distance (the same as measuring from one side of one post, to the same side of the other post).. or post-to-post inside distance, plus 1 diameter of one post.

Have you measured to see if the Gotoh bridges on the Stew Mac site will fit?

Jim

Hi Jim,

The Gotoh bridge from Stew Mac will not fit. HOWEVER, I wound up talking to All Parts today. They have close out old Gotoh bridges that will fit. It is not a direct replacement for my bridge however. That bums me out, but it is what it is. According to All Parts, Samick actually had hardware that eerily looked like Schaller hardware, but wasn't available on the replacement parts market. So.... Gotoh it is.

All of you guys have been fantastic. I really appreciate all your answers to my question.
