flatbaroque Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Gday all. This one came from the book I read over Easter combined with too many Chocolate Easter eggs...so I was up late last night over sugared and in a writing mood. Bit of Gibson low end thump on the bass. Bit of thumb fretting which I'm paying for now with old football injury arthritis playing up.It's the price we artistes pay It was on the bridge of San Luis Rey The vine did snap and we fell away, Contessa, Brother, Conquistador Hand maiden never spoke before This is our fate, to fall away, This is our fate to fall away Have you seen the river from 1000 feet It shakes it shimmers it’s silver sweet It holds it’s hands like a waiting child It knows you’re coming,in one short while This is her fate, to call you down Five bells toll down on the river Valley wakes from shore to shore Condor floats this side of never flying through your life before Conquistador how goes that gold? Is it weighing heavy upon your soul? Will they whisper of you in old Madrid? Or in that village for what you did This is your fate, to never know Contessa what is in your heart? Is it silk and pearls Or is there one small part For that servant girl who combed your hair who comforted you when noone’s there who listened to your every story almost burnt in your reflected glory this is your fate to be one with her this is you fate to be one with her Five bells toll down on the river Valley wakes from shore to shore Condor floats this side of never flying through your life before It was on the bridge of San Luis Rey The vine did snap and we fell away, Contessa, Brother, Conquistador Hand maiden never spoke before This is our fate, to fall away, This is our fate to fall away
stein Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I really liked that. I'm gonna call it a night with that and let that stay in my head instead of listening to more music. I like the way it sits in there.
