roadhog96 Posted February 11, 2008 Share Posted February 11, 2008 I know Gibson says specifications are subject to change, but has there been a spec change on the Memphis ES-335 Dot RI MY '06 is 5/16" wider and 1/16" thicker than my'08. That's just under 1/2" wider, that is a significant difference. I wouldn't think you would have that much of a variance from guitar to guitar under normal building. Custom Admin Posted February 11, 2008 Share Posted February 11, 2008 according to the folks in Memphis, they did thin the body out in 2006 (not sure exactly when in '06) to be closer to the '50s spec. so, your '06 must have preceeded that change... The reason I ask is my '06 is suppose to be VS but it looks more like a Tobacco or Dark burst to me were as the '08 looks more like the Historic Vintage Sunburst. Theother question is about the neck set. The '08 neck sits much higher out of the neck pocket in the body then the '06 that I have. The pickups and bridge are adjusted a lot higher than the '06 because of this higher neck set. Do you know if this is a spec change also? Custom Admin Posted February 11, 2008 Share Posted February 11, 2008 no spec change, but colors are mixed and sprayed by hand, so there's always variations...i don't believe the neck set spec changed. again, necks are fitted by hand, so there's going to be a bit of variation from guitar to guitar.
