Rambler Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 "looks like an AJ (high priced)" Indeed, it is an AJ, but as to the price being high, Ive been a little surprised to see unblemished AJ's going in the low to mid teens. It would seem to me a RW dread should command more. Plus, AJs havent been consistently in production, they have been reputed to be of lighter build and get more hand voicing than standards. Only thing I can figure is that RW buyers are lookinng for buttery tones; AJs may have too much bite for them. Thoughts?
jefleppard Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 the aj is too high. any used item (mint or ec) should be priced realistically. $150 offf list w/o warranty won't/shouldn't sell as there is no incentive. if one can buy a new aj for 2K, why pay 1850 for a used one? until an "old, used" guitar makes that subtle move to "vintage" guitar the selling price should be a fair deal less than retail.
Rambler Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 "if one can buy a new aj for 2K, why pay 1850 for a used one?" Ah, the list price. Left that out of the equation. still, J45s have listed for less but command about the same as Ajs used. A mystery.
