Dennis G
So plugged my Wildkat into my Valve Sr (head/cab) tonight only to hear "Snap, Crackle, Pop" although truth be told "Pop" was more like "Boom". Funny smell. Unplugged, and set aside till Manyana though. Guessing I've fried a tube or two if not worse. Update - took it to an amp guy today after seeing only a minimal glow from one tube, and still having the snap, crackle, pop when plugging in a guitar. He checked the tubes (very marginal) and after a few more "checks" determined that the amp does indeed have "something going on". Film at eleven I guess. Svet
If you smelled burning you probably fried a couple resistors. Perhapsone of the power tubes had a thermal runaway and drew too much thus frying a resistor?
