1956 gibson es 295 (elvis guitar)

If that finish is original, it's pretty amazing that it hasn't started cracking and turning green (and I say that because it looks like it's been played quite a bit, and that commonly happens to that gold paint). It looks like there's some corrosion on the tailpiece, which sometimes happens when a tortoise pickguard decomposes... but 295's typically had white pickguards, so...? Is the pickguard still around?

 

I can't tell what's up with the vol/tone knobs, and I really can't tell what's up with that nut! That is odd looking. :unsure:

 

If there's no hidden damage or major repairs (and if that finish is original), then you do have a nice example there.
