aod60
I have a Custom Shop, all Mahogony, 57 reissue. Beautifull guitar. Everytime I play it the neck and my hands get sticky. I have 4 other Gibsons an countless others and have never experienced this before. I clean it everytime I play it and it comes back within 15 minutes of playing it. How do I fix this? AXE®
Naptha or Zippo lighter fluid and a clean cotton cloth. Wipe it down regularly and let it air out. It will help. A Lot.
CR9
Leaving the guitar exposed to air will help further cure the finish and it will stop that situation. It may be best to leave the lid open on the case for a while rather than put it on a stand. Like AXE said, wipe it down with Naptha and let it air out. Some guitars just take a lot longer to fully cure than others.
modern image
i recall reading a lot about this (back of the neck), think they called in orange peel on the old gibson forum in 2004. it is due, they said back then to not allowing the laquer process proper time to set, or something along those lines. cure as above i recall, lighter fluid?
