I have just recieved a guitar. Belonged to my father

Serial number =82234508. Am I right that this was made in 1984? Nashville?

stamped on the back oh the headstock with made in usa.

No gibson sticker inside the guitar. Can i be sure that it's a real gibson`?

Different burst (what is this burst called?) and back and sides than other ES 175's. Mahogany?

Tuners says gibson deluxe. Added some photos.

It is in nice shape. Some finish checking.

Value on these?

There are guys on here who know far, far more than I about selling guitars.

Do you play? I'd say it's priceless and beyond value.

Do you not play, but think it's pretty and it was your Dad's? Ditto and put it in a cabinet to show it off.

IMO, putting a value on a guitar is nearly impossible in a forum like this, there are too many variables.

Having been shopping for one recently I couldn't give you a price on yours but I can say that the price can vary by a whole lot.

Buyers can be persnickity on what they are willing to accept in condition, and color. Then again condition, color or year made may be irrelevant to some players. Also since geography can play heavily in price for example Europe vs. US markets prices can't be quoted as gospel.

I think I stole my recent buy at less than $2k, but I was willing to pay up to $3600 or so for one in equal condition. This was related to (in this order): color, condition, and to a lesser extent age.

Yours sure is a good looker good luck if sell it.

The burst is different, but mainly it has mahogany back and sides as opposed to maple. This is legit and did occur during a range of years in the 1980s (into the early 90s I believe). Also, the top is flamed, which is unique for the time period - flame top 175s started showing up in earnest during the 90s. It's very nice! And it likely has the prized Tim Shaw humbucking pickups. Enjoy it.

congratulations- that's a stunning guitar.

The mahogany sides were produced from 83-90 iirc

I've played a few of these and the build quality of 175s from this period is superior in my opinion to the ones they make today (other than the 59 VOS which is killer).

Truly a thing to treasure.
