The_Buffalo
Has anyone replaced the stock pickup in their John Lennon EJ-160E? A lot of owners complain about the weak output of the pickup, but I can't recall anyone upgrading it. I know some owners have added an under saddle transducer, but I'm not interested in doing that. (BTW, yes I do use electric guitar strings.)
bonzoboy
I have an '08 John Lennon EJ-160-E and I find the pickup to be perfect when using electric strings,I use D'Addario 10-46 with a wound G and they are perfect for that guitar.I'm not sure of this but you should be able to buy the Gibson made 160-E pickup and install it on your Epi.Maybe if you sent an email to consumer relations etc. they may be able to steer you in the right direction and let you know if the pups are available. clarkuss
I also don't have a problem with mine but if i did I would probably take it to a shop and get them to rebuild the current one into a true P-90. No idea if the actual Gibson P-90s would be a perfect fit or not...
