Put my 2 Martin guitars on consignment in a Melbourne guitar store last month.
Both fine guitars but I just wasn't playing them much.
The Martin JDP II sold in 24 hours.
The Martin Grand J12-40E Special took a couple more days.
Both sold for a little more than I originally paid for them new.

I have a 2020 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200 and I love it - reckon I'd also love the Custom Shop Historic 1960 Fixed Bridge Hummingbird too.

He's playing libraries now?
Apparently he got fooled again.

Spotted ****.
Spotted **** is a traditional British baked pudding, historically made with suet and dried fruit and often served with custard. Non-traditional variants include recipes that replace suet with other fats, or that include eggs to make something similar to a sponge pudding or cake
Can't believe a genuine British food dish just got censored! There's a comic book detective with surname 'Tracy' that shares the same first name as this British delicacy.

I'd like a Guild F-612 - that's the 12-string jumbo with 18" lower bout.
Pete Townshend has one.

I’ve been cutting mine flush for a while now. Never had a string slip out.
Exactly - when you go into a guitar store and see racks of new guitars on display how many of them have 1 1/2 inches of string sticking out each tuner or all the string excess curled into a rings?
Looks like Paul14 took a handful of grumpy pills ... and they've all kicked in.
I thought my initial comment was an innocent observation - I love SJ-200's.

Really? That’s your concern?
Just saying ... why leave string ends cut off at stabbing length when you can trim them off at the post?
-
There's a lot of gloss on that big boy compared to my Historic 1957.
If you're cutting off the string excess why would you leave them at that lethal nasty length?

Love Neil from that era - here's another stunning live, solo acoustic album that I love.

I became a Gibson owner just last year, got me looking at other Gibson models now and that exact Hummingbird is the one I keep coming back to look at - fantastic guitar.

Would I choose it over my 2020 Historic 1957 SJ-200?
Well, the back and sides are beautiful but no, not even if they were priced the same.
-
Have you tried DR Sunbeam round core strings? They really lifted my much cheaper laminate Epiphone EJ-200, might be worth a shot, take care installing round-core strings.

I'm sure it has a nice personality.

Nice, do they make one for men?

I became a 1st time Gibson owner last year when my Historic 1957 SJ-200 finally arrived.
Love it, guess the bug has bitten, now I'd really like to try a Hummingbird and Dove too.

I meant to ask you if you've ever tried the DR Strings' Hi-Beam 80/20's? I don't see much chatter on these, but they are supposed to be brighter than I guess my normal warm 80/20s I've been getting for my Maple SJ-200. (I keep the Maple on the warm side of the spectrum while I try to keep brighter strings on my RW SJ-200.)
Interesting - I just placed an order for a set of DR Hi Beam lights to try on my SJ-200.
I also ordered some Curt Mangan round-core 80/20's, Ernie Ball Earthwood 80/20's, Rotosound Tru-Bronze and another 2 sets of the John Pearse 80/20's I have on the guitar now.

I look forward to reading how you find them on your SJ-200 even though I've given up buying Martin strings anymore after finding corroded strings in freshly opened packs - I think their packaging sucks - either there's moisture being sealed in during packing or the seal is letting moisture in.
-
Wow, that's stunning!

@Brucebubs the SJ200 was listed on the dealer website about 10:30 in the evening. They opened for business the next morning at 10:00 am.
Guess who was on the phone at 10:01 ? Uhhuh, you guessed it. @pcf not trying to hijack your thread..hope you can find what you’re after.
I saw multiple positive reviews and clips online from NAMM 2020 so I emailed the Australian distributor for Gibson guitars and told them I wanted to order a new Historic 1957 SJ-200 - they didn't know what I was talking about - there wasn't even a code number for one in their system. They got back to me and gave me a price (huge!) and told me to order through any Gibson dealer here in Australia - so I ordered on Feb 6th and finally picked it up on October 28th. I've seen it listed at a couple other dealers here but 'Not In Stock' - I believe the supply of new guitars from the USA has slowed to a trickle since the pandemic so I think I was lucky.

The 2020 Historic Custom Shop SJ200 Pre War RW and 2020 Custom Shop Historic 1936 Advanced Jumbo.
Both outstanding...
use the 'Direct Link' on imgur to post pictures here now - great shot, 2 excellent guitars.
One of those new Pre-War SJ-200's landed in a guitar store in Melbourne a few weeks back - sold in a day!
-
Yes I have a 2020 Custom Shop Historic 1957 SJ-200 in Vintage Sunburst.
Beautiful guitar, very warm, rich tone. Swapped the factory PB's for 80/20's and it got even better. Period correct hard case is a nice touch.

Here's more information, bought from an ice cream stand attendant for 6 grand by Bruce in 1975 following the success of 'Born To Run'. I was wrong, I thought it was a hot-dog stand.

Can we expect to see you leaning on your vintage Corvette. . ?
I wish! Bruce writes it's a 1960 model he bought on the spot from a guy running a hot-dog stand. How American cool is that!

And even rarer is the Epiphone EJ-300S with rosewood back & sides. I bought one here in Australia but it was so bad I sent it back.
