  1. Aside from my Fender and Blackstar tube amps (1 each) I have a Vox MV50 with the Nutube that does great with my pedals. I was just about to sell off the Blackstar anyway. My Fender is my main amp but I would be fine using the Vox, and I’m thinking about picking up a Quilter Aviator Cub or 101 Reverb. This seems like a great inflection point for the market to go big on alternatives to traditional tube amps.
  2. If you asked me a month ago it was definitely my Gibson Les Paul Special and those fantastic P90s. But about 4 weeks ago I got an Epiphone 1959 Les Paul (with the Gibson USA pickups) and now I’m very conflicted. They’re both so fantastic.
  3. You are correct. It is a MIC model I purchased directly from Epiphone via epiphone.com. I didn’t go down to the warehouse and pound on the door or anything.
  4. I got it straight from Epiphone, so I would assume this applies: https://www.epiphone.com/en-US/Support/Warranty/Epiphone
  5. FWIW I just bought a new Epiphone Limited Edition ‘59 Les Paul and it’s excellent. I have yet to find anything wrong with it. The fit and finish are impeccable and the electronics are excellent. It uses Gibson USA pickups. I love my Gibson LP Special but the new Epi LP is every bit as well made, possibly even a bit better. With the Epi I had to change strings and adjust the string height a hair along with intonation (which wasn’t quite perfect even before i changed strings/height). A half hour of work and a $7 pack of strings was definitely worth the money I saved. I mean, I’d love to drop $6k on a perfect Gibson but I have 4 kids 😂 … and the Epiphone is a spectacular instrument in its own right.
  6. Thanks and yeah I really enjoy the P90s a lot. They’re kind of addictive and surprisingly versatile.
  7. Well…. I have used a crescent wrench to pound in a nail or two. 🤔 Thanks!
  8. I just got an Epiphone 1959 Les Paul Standard in Aged Dark Burst and this thing is phenomenal. Right out of the box it’s perfect in every way and i have yet to find even the smallest flaw. Maybe i’ll find one eventually but for $849 how can I complain? The neck and frets are fantastic. The electronics are solid and sound amazing. The finish is gorgeous. I love my Gibson Les Paul Special with P90s, and it plays better than any guitar i’ve ever owned, but my new Epiphone LP is right there with it for a lot less money. Hell it may even play better once i get better strings on it (I haven’t even taken off the stock factory strings yet).
  9. Thanks man. I'm bringin' the hammer!
  10. i’m 49 and have always played S-style guitars, but after a hiatus i decided to pick up a Gibson Les Paul Special to try out P-90s. I love that guitar; how it plays and how it sounds. And now I have just bought an Epiphone 1959 Limited Edition Les Paul and I love this thing too. I don’t even like playing my other guitars anymore (watch for them on Reverb!). Anyway I do like cranking some fuzz pedals into my Blues Jr. and occasionally adding a Phase 90. I’ve been into using the 60s/early 70s retro type gear to get stoner rock/metal through to sludgy doom sounds. I like it dirty.
