The last of the Leon Russell CDs showed up today: Face In The Crowd, Anything Can Happen and Life Journey.
That's enough Leon Russell for me.
-
Zappa's Munich 80 is poorly recorded and mixed except for the guitar solos. That guy could play!
Jethro Tull's Living With The Past is very well done, it was nice to hear fresh takes on these old songs again.

I think she dropped the hyphen when she went punk?
-
What does the 34% and the 442 mean?
-
Badfinger's another Leon Russell connection.
That guy was everywhere for a while.

The Concert For Bangladesh DVD showed up courtesy of a Goodwill in Georgia.
It's outside being aired out, it has that distinctive Goodwill aroma to it - unwashed socks and moldy furniture smell.

I can't answer your questions but I'm pretty sure that model you're looking at is a satin finish, not a gloss.
I went through that trying to find a TV Yellow Special many years ago - the seller was pissed when I sent it back.
-
Ordered some albums:
Frank Zappa - Munich 80 (triple disc), Jethro Tull - Living With The Past (double disc), Delaney and Bonnie - Motel Shot
and some 3 Leon Russell CDs: Anything Can Happen, Face In The Crowd, Carney
That should hold me for a little bit. A new Zappa and PJ Harvey are being released next month so I'm looking forward to them.

Maybe consolidate all new music purchases in one thread?
I'll start. I'm on a Leon Russell kick so bought a pristine 3 album Leon Live set and a bunch of CDs: Leon Russell, Leon Russell and the Shelter People, On A Distant Shore, Life Journey
and two DVD/BluRays: Mad Dogs and Englishmen and The Concert For Bangladesh.

Tube life is more of a concern for stereo gear.
With future availability, who knows. New Sensor is probably avoiding sanctions by selling to a neutral country and then exporting from there.

A sister came over the other day and said, "I like your cabinet" and my mother goes, "That's not a cabinet."
Nope, it was a stack of Firebird cases. They are kind of large.

The only Firebird case you can get is from the chainsaw family.
WTH.

This is only going back to 2015 but I'd say 500k are in there.

Gibson had been using Korina (African limba) on their lap steel guitars.
They chose it due to it being lighter than mahogany in both weight and color, it would make the new models distinctive. That was the whole point in producing the Explorer, Flying V and the prototype Moderne: take that, Fedner!
-
I wish I would have been in a financial position to keep the Zebrawood Firebird V and Les Paul Classic.
The Les Paul was especially nice but oh well, it was guitar or the house so off they went.

To answer the OP's question, if they would make it like the original (limba/korina, strings through the body) and price it comprably to the Gibson USA model I'd buy one. It would be different enough from what I currently have to justify the purchase.
For $10,000 I will take a pass.
-
A quick search shows they're priced about the same and this is retail, small quantities:
Black Limba (Korina) - $14.99
Mahogany - $13.50 - $15.00
-
I have one, that's enough.
It's the implementation of it. Make it like the original and don't charge $10,000.
Is limba wood expensive? No.
-
I got an empty box which was supposed to have a Les Paul Classic in it.
That was fun. Sent Canada Post to US Mail. Don't ever go that route, the tracking is really bad, no way to tell where the box went light.

Congratulations on the new turntable!
I settled on the old Well Tempered Turntables years ago and yes, the new ones ARE made in China.
The old ones are from the US and they're just the wildest design, the arm floats in heavy silicone in a cup, the patter spins in a cup full of Mobi 1, there are no conventional bearings. I saw the design and said that's the one for me!
Set up is a bit of a challenge at first...
I believe all the Rega products are made in England. I have some of their CD players and a DAC, they're really good.
