They used to wear a barrel when they lost all their money.  Now they probably give you a paper jumpsuit, like the ones they give murderers when they take them to booking.

Maybe I'll set up a paper jumpsuit outlet in the permanent casino.  It's supposed to be a big flashy building with lots of positive impact on the community.

  2. They have a new riffy temporary casino near here in Bristol, VA and everything about it just wreaks of the same old trash.

They're like "We're giving money to charities."  Buncha parasites taking money from ignorant people without a pot to piss in that can't help but lose their checks to Satan.

You show me somebody who gambles, I'll show you somebody fighting reality.

Maybe to you, but not to others.  You think they make them for no reason?   One reason is evidence that it is not fake.  But more importantly it can be very important for verification of a model.   If you are trying to sell a reissue, you would understand the importance of that.

    Go poop somewhere else.

No offense, but you're just naive.  And never take advice from people who are on your side and trying to help.  And whine about it.

I have just had my second stand failure. The first failure was with the single stand model and now the second failure was the triple stand model.

I had three vintage, valuable guitars on this stand, removed them to clean the area, and had the locking mechanism fail and drop the height as soon as the stand was moved. This could have been catastrophic had the guitars still been on the stand. Both stands failed the same way with the height locking mechanism becoming extremely sticky and then disintegrating shortly after.

I contacted Hercules directly over six months ago and they have refused to honor their lifetime warranty for a known and common problem with their stands. My dealer has long since went out of business and cannot be contacted.

Stay away from this company and their equipment if you value your instruments.

    Doc

I've had a bunch of them and they've been great for me.  I wouldn't go anywhere near anything else.  They're the best stands I've ever seen.  If you have the sticky model, then you shuould have gotten rid of it.  Stay away from this company if you value your instruments?  Funny!

There's two kinds of people in this world.  Those who double check when they engage a locking mechanism and those who don't.

Looks like the nut itself is cracked in this shot.

The nut's not cracked.  The edge of the lacquer is running diagonally across the nut.  But the lacquer is cracked along the edge of the nut.  Nothing structural.

Yep. MBA.  I’m flattered you remembered.   But I did major in English first 2 years undergrad.  Decided that degree wouldn’t have been worth a pitcher of warm spit.  Who cares big you can conjugate verbs and quote Shakespeare?    Peace, Out.

You MBA types should be out there stealing peoples' lunch money instead of arguing with a bunch of knuckleheads like me on the internet.  😁

  8. I tried going back to slinkys and I think I'm spoiled by the Nanowebs.  I ordered some more sets.  They're quieter.  That's not really a problem playing at band volume.  But it seems like they're just easier to play.

  9. I have a 2019 LP Standard with the low profile frets and I never could get used to them.  It was just too different than what I'd been used to.  I'm selling it.  Bought a different one with medium jumbos.

  10. I'll send y'all some mineral oil in a little bottle for however much you want to pay.  I still have at least half a quart.

I can mix in a few drops of moonshine.  Maybe that'll help.

"Boardshine"  that's it!  Two ounces of mineral oil with a couple drops of shine for$9.99.  Get a second bottle for free, just pay a separate fee.

I'm guessing you must have some kind of a switch set to alert you immediately whenever I post something.

"trying to find someone you can call a bunch of names ....  you don't have to be a trash collector..."    I'll have to look up 'irony' in the dictionary.

The conversation between WtF and I had to do with the accuracy of definitions in dictionaries.   do you have anything to contribute on that specifically, or just the usual ?

Or, possibly just something on the original subject of marketing ?

Nah...  It's just that the people on your channel of the TV are like the hoods in high school, only with degrees and entitlement.  And guys like me were the ones taunting the hoods just to bother them.

Don't you have an MBA or something?

Here's a definition of 'Woman'  for you in the Cambridge Dictionary.   Line 2 :

    https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/woman

Like Dylan sung:  "You don't need a weatherman to tell which way the wind blows."     You don't need a dictionary to tell you what the definition of some words is.

You guys are like an army of staggering "kick me" signs, wandering with your heads down across some tundra somewhere in a line of people walking in a circle, repeating what they say on TV, over and over, in a continuous moan.  Trying to find somebody you can call a bunch of names while the rest of the world gets ready for the holidays.

Like Vance Tenderle sung, you don't have to be a trash collector to understand what these guys are thinking.

"Woke" ness can be applied to a dozen different social and political movements.  Not sure where you got the 'racial inequities' one from.      Appreciate the deflection though.  As always.

Y'all confuse annoying people with winning your argument.  The whole lot of you.  😄

Lets break it down - Medium Hydrotreated Petroleum Distillates

Medium means not big or small but in the middle.

    Hydro is water.

Treated is self explanatory as they put something in it.

Petroleum is a crude oil, and can be used to make gas and diesel fuel.

Distillates means it was made by distilling. I guess like what the moonshiners do.

So there you have it, all that is Dunlop #65. Put that on your fretboard and like it.

The MSDS for the Old English is like 8 pages long, with emergency instructions for everything from touching it to breathing it.  It has a flashpoint, lol.  I think you have to have one of those diamond shaped hazard signs on your belt just to use it.

People take mineral oil for some kind of digestive probs, so it can't be all that hazardous.  😄

Duane, the only guitar I ever owned with the ABR-1 was my ES-339.

While, I never had an issue with it, I noticed it wasn't as robust and durable looking as the Nashville, and I worried about it all the time. Those little skinny posts. Those dainty little wires.

My saddles were showing (normal) wear when I swapped it off and went all acoustic, but if I would have kept gigging that guitar, I imagine I would have replaced the entire bridge every year or so, just for peace of mind.

I have to wonder though, if those skinny post actually contribute to the great tone of that guitar. It was a tone monster going into my Mesa Blue Angel, I mean from large clean to nasty grit, that was a really great sounding guitar.

I had one from the same year and the posts were only anchored about a half inch into the top.  And half of that is plywood.  They're all like that.  I put longer posts in that guitar and my 335.  Fortunately I've never had trouble either.

    Hello guys,
I apologize for interfering with your conversation, but I would like to return to the topic that badbluesplayer called here. After some upgrades on different guitars, I've got some experience as regards guitar tone, or in other words, a tone deficiency, how to fix it. Perhaps it will be interesting for badbluesplayer. It seems there are people here who have experience in electrics and also understand physics, it might be interesting for them too.

well..., yes, trying to fix tone after pickups is really a waste of time, I also came to the same conclusion. By the way, Van Halen, together with his fellow inventors (Tim Show and others), probably also closely dealt with this issue, and as a result they created a guitar pickup of an unusual design, quite original. As I think, it is not yet in production, this is their patent, fairly new, for 2018. If anyone is interested, in more detail the design of their pickup is here in this link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US10115383B2/en
well..., the bottom line is that all conventional pickups (magnetic) already have a significant drawback associated with the negative influence of their magnetic field on string vibrations. And therefore, all further attempts to correct the tone (after the pickup), whether in the pre/ amplifier, or in the tone block of the guitar, or with the help of "treble bleed" resistor/cap elements etc., anyway, all of these methods are imperfect in one way or another. Or even they are meaningless since the reason lies in the said magnetic pickups.

I don’t know how good the Van Halen/Show's humbucker is in tone, but their search path, I think, is the right one. I.e., first of all, it is really necessary to change the design of the magnetic system in pickups and reduce the negative magnetic influence. If interested, I can give a link to an article about this on LinkedIn. Generally speaking, I also have my own design of a guitar pickup, in principle it is not a secret, I can give a link to its description. In particular, recently recorded my guitar with this pickup, it's a cover of Pink Floyd's thing, guitar version: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16s_p9-jKjcI2_-C841ngW_1sDsFFTw5X/view?usp=sharing   I hope you like it.

Hey man.  It's been awhile since you've been on here.  Welcome back.

  17. Can you post a pic of what the pot /bost circuit looks like?  You can buy push-push pots, but you have to know what you're looking for.

    Like these - https://www.amplifiedparts.com/search/node/potentiometer+push+push/

Depending on what the "boost circuit" consists of, it might be pretty easy to fix or rebuild.  I might be able to help.
