My small book I have on hand here doesn't mention the jr. much. On your ordered model, what materials are the body, fingerboard, position markers and tuners? I know Ray Whitley had both a big one and a jr. custom made for him, per this little reference book. They were spruce top, rosewood bodies, ebony boards and fully bound. His had Tortise guards and were beautiful, per these pictures. Enjoy your's when she comes!

You should not be experiencing checking on a guitar of that age.
After Gibson changed the recipe for their nitro in late 04 I believe' date=' by adding plasticizers you would have to take the guitar from a freezer to the oven to even get it to think about checking.
It looks like a pressure fissure.
If your guitar was made after Oct 2006 it is chambered not weight relieved. [/quote']
I think you hit it, Axe. Pressure.

Can't believe you dug this old thread up once more. I play Les Paul 10s on my 335s and any type of music I can learn!

Love everyone's choice of guitar. And, as I've said I have 335's from age 13 in 1963 to 2006. I have never understood the concern over the 335 body size. I am an average size guy and have never played a more comfortable guitar than the 335 standing or sitting. Plus, it will go anywhere with sound also. I guess what counts is, isn't it just plain great the semi hollow series exists regardless of one's preference in body size, appointments, etc. !!!

Haven't run into the problem myself, but thought this might be a good place to say "thanks Hogeye" for the effort on this one.
