  1. Subject asks it all, pretty much. The 70's?
  2. If the corresponding models were exactly the same, they would sell a lot less Gibsons.
  3. I had .013 flats on my '97 Casino VT for years! I had it setup for that, since it definitely required adjustment, but it handled it!
  4. Don't let it go!!!!! I'd love to find a Sorrento now, but my fundage is all dried up :(
  5. Sure, I think you got a decent deal, just not a "steal." Peerlesses are great, and while that seems to be high end of the going rate on the 'bay, you got the tech work as icing, basically. Enjoy it! edited to add: Oh, and I would prefer an Epi over a Gretsch 5xxx any day.
  6. A little bird told me there was a video somewhere showing how WildKats are made. Is this true? Something about them being hollowed out from one solid hunk o wood?
  7. and... a turquoise WildKat is on the way! What does that leave me to get? Sorrento, Dot and Regent?
  8. A Casino and a Riviera are up on the bay! Too rich for my blood though. There is an EM-1-BL too, if you like hockey.
  9. A couple tq's are on the bay... priced to sit though :(
  10. Thanks gang! Oh yes I saw that Sorrento that was up recently... if I hadn't been buying a house I would have been all over it.
  11. My collection (of turquoise Epi's) is now up to a whopping 3!!! Scored this on the bay: To go along with my '96 Riviera and '97 Casino, both Vibrotoned... Now if I can ever get my hands on that turquoise Regent my life may be complete! I suppose a WildKat wouldn't hurt either.
  12. R = Peerless factory, very desirable among Epi's 97 = 1997 Very nice!!!
  13. Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't checked in for a while... it's been nutty but I'll try to come back here weekdays and hopefully contribute more. What brings me here today, I must admit, is a question. I bought my Peerless ('98) Broadway without a pickguard about a year ago. I have since acquired a guard, but need a bracket to attach it. The standard AllParts one doesn't fit properly. Where might I get the correct Epi part? Thanks, J
  14. Hi everyone. Please post here if you would be interested and reasonably possibly able to attend an event at the Gibson Guitar Room in Washington, DC, half a block from the Gallery Place Chinatown Metro station. This would likely be a show I'm thinking of putting on myself with 2 or 3 local bands on a weeknight in December. I imagine there would be a ticket price somewhere in the neighborhood of $10. This is a private room with some instruments on display (some interesting pieces, but not a ton of "museum quality" stuff exactly). All bands would be required to play Gibson brands' instruments. If this show happens, I personally would use my rare ebony finish Epiphone Broadway (one of 40 made) along with a turquoise Casino w/Vibrotone, and maybe a black Gibson SG robot. Also, If you have a local band and would be interested in performing, please pm me. Instruments are available to borrow at the show if you don't have a Gibson or Epi, and of course you don't ding them up GC style. (Let's not go there LOL) All related questions are more than welcome. Thanks for reading! -J

  16. Hey there M! Good to see you here! :) Wiggle it in the light (the serial area) and look for a dimple or two in the finish. Sometimes people put tons of lacquer on to fill in a "USED" stamp. I just recently learned this. -J Dog
  17. Hi gang. I convinced one of my bandmates to buy an Epiphone G-400 body/neck on eBay last week. We're going to assemble the parts and wire it up ourselves. Will this kit fit it? Thanks, J http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Electronics,_pickups/Supplies:_Wiring_kits/Wiring_Kit_for_SG.html
  18. I used to have a sunburst LP 7. Bought and sold near $400. Seem to be about the same currently. I know of one local to me if you want me to look into it for you. (No affiliation)
  19. I just snagged a Gretsch Shanghai Rose, basically a TN Rose in metallic Caddy green with gold h/w. It looks funky but neat! So no takers on my last query?
