Be sure you're using the Acoustic numbering system.
Here's an excerpt from an earlier thread. You may want to read the entire thread.
From the Gibson site. You will note that in 1977 they started using an 8 digit number. In 2005, Gibson USA (not the acoustic division) switched to a 9 digit system. Gibson USA Custom models use a completely different number. You can read all the details for yourself at Serial Search (gibson.com)
Here's some excerpts from that site. Since your number has 8 digits and shows it was made after 2005, it's a Montana built acoustic.
Hope this helps and quit using those serial number decoder sites.
In 1977, Gibson introduced the serialization method that we primarily use to this day
YDDDYRRR
The pattern is as follows:
YY is the production year
DDD is the day of the year
RRR is the factory ranking/plant designation number.
Since 1989, all Gibson acoustics are built in Bozeman, MT and all Gibson electrics are built in Nashville or Memphis. Ranking numbers for Bozeman start each day at 001 and the electrics may start as low as the 300s.
NOTE - Gibson USA goes to a 9 digit serial number in early July 2005..
The sixth number is now a batch number- batch 0 starts at the beginning of the day, and once we stamp 699, the batch number will change to 1. The first 5 numbers remain the same, the last 3 numbers will remain the same. The only difference is the addition of this batch indicator.- 1

Dave, Nice RK.... also, nice guitar stand. Is that a re-purposed church pew, or is my Sunday Morning Coming Down on me for sitting in bed ?

I have a ‘41 Regal Recording King. Has a carved top. It’s not over-braced but it measures up to .250” in spots. It will not win any contest at a bluegrass jam but it has one of the sweetest tones I’ve heard. I think Em7’s video demonstrates that with that bird.
I added a pickup for when I want more volume. That sounds great too.- 1

Back in '86, the wife and I went to a John Fogerty concert. Bonnie Raitt was the opening act. I had not heard of her before that. We were in the front row, and she amazed me. Solo with an acoustic guitar doing her slide work. I've been a fan ever since. John wasn't too bad either 🙂

A few days ago I was contacted by a major concert promoter - “I hear you have a great sounding J-45. I’m producing the Aspen Labor Day concert, and the contract rider calls for us to provide Grace Potter a Gibson J-45 to play on stage - might we borrow yours?”
Didn't you loan out your J45 Legend a few years back?

Here's a 10-year-old ad from MF.
I had the Legend, TV, JB and HB from around this era.
I had the '10 Legend, '12 TV and a vintage '42 J45 at the same time in my search for that special J45 🙂
The TV was nice but not anything special. It left 1st.
The vintage one had too many repairs. I just didn't bond to it and it just didn't sound anything special. It left 2nd.
The Legend was really nice, great Gibson thumb and a baseball neck. I acquired a '52 J45 that I liked the neck and sound a lot better. The Legend left 3rd.

So the J-45 ML is basically my CS Historic J-45, but beat up some and 1500 more?
Looks like they took most of the CS Historic collection that has the thermal treated tops so yours is probably the same. I would think it is nothing more than cosmetic.
The SJ '42 is $5299 and the ML is $6799 so your $1500 is right on. Probably same $ to get the thermal treatment.
These are probably still in-line or less than the boutique builders offering Gibson copies.

I'm afraid I would have passed on that offer. That sounds worse than loaning one of my guitars to Guitar Center for the weekend. It would have to be a beater before I did that.

I believe the one Tom B hands is RW
I have one of the baked top SJ RW and like it.

After I sent it back, I'd never deal with that store again.
The surface imperfections don't concern me, but that fretboard does.
-
Easily if you expose it to extreme conditions, especially a new guitar
-
I doubt it left the factory that way. OP said he bought it online and the guy from the store said ….,.,,,
Have you seen the guitars hanging on the wall at a GC? I went to my local GC yesterday and it wasn’t pretty.

Those are starting to show there vintage appeal.
I would say about 50% of what New Gibson acoustics I have are the same little issues.I agree. When I pick up this guitar and play it, it looks, feels and sounds like something out of the early 50's

Or try the acoustic lounge. Tom Barnwell has a few vintage Gibson banjos.

If Gibson verified it for you, I would accept it as authentic

On standard models, I usually only got an inspection report and maybe a cleaning cloth, keychain, truss rod wrench and pick. Perhaps a user guide for the Fishman. You can find them online.

Nice looking guitar!

I must be getting old. I first read the title of this thread as '4 Acres of Swing' and thought 'what a unique name'.
