I feel the same way you do. We do that as much as humanly possible. when you have young grandchildren, the reality is we're limited.

Yeah we are talking something like 2011.........
Yep!
When these stands first came out, they were not good for nitro, people complained, and they changed the pads.
Albeit, too late for those that had happen what you had happen. I'd have been annoyed too.

It does happen.. I have regular floor stands. I knew about the issue but for some reason when I got my goldtop tribute I did the legs of the stand but must have gotten distracted or something as I forgot to do the bit where the back of the guitar rests on it and this happened. Even though this is just a studio I was still pretty miffed by it.
The last I remember hearing about the Hercules stands was that even though some people say that their stands are ok with nitro, they actually removed that bit of there web site where it talked about being nitro safe. Which while they probably only did that to avoid litigation sorta also tells me something.
how old was the stand? IIRC they changed the padding materials a number of years back, not sure could have been as far back as 2016 or there abouts.

That answers it. Not worth it. Yeah no sentimental value. my wife bought it for me after we married and we just celebrated our 44th Anniversary today. It was only worth $300.00 new. Thanks.
right! I figured as much. to work it as a DIY / learning project to restore is one idea. depends on your desire to do that.
The last reply on the chess match and tumor, geeze, you've had your share of challenges my friend.

I ordered the stand Hercules GS415B . Their CS told me it was okay, it would not hurt the surface. I think I can give it a try. Now it's in the case after I played .
I can vouch for them Hercules stands are nitro safe I have a few

Probably cost more to fix it than it’s worth. But, how do you put a price on a gift your wife gave you 30 years ago? Fix it & play it with love…
yea that's the thing for sure.

I have questions about guitars in closets. I put a cheap acoustic guitar my wife bought me in a closet and left it there. 30 years later I took it out and the bridge was pulled loose and bent up 3/8". It's an Oscar Smidth. Was going to toss it out but I still have it and thinking about having it fixed. Its so old, I want to hear it. The wood is aged great. Its a jumbo.
consider that as a common problem with the changing climates/humidity etc over a 30 year span
the question is, with something like that, it probably needs both a bridge set and a probably neck reset. it would have to have some very high sentimental value to put that kind of repair money down. These were entry level acoustics, wrt cost/$investement$

You guys have much better amps and equipment than me. But then I just play for self entertainment. Now CHESS. There's my favorite hobby. Mom told me I had an uncle that taught me to play at 2 years old or tried to. I just remember playing it as long as I can remember. I get frustrated if I lose. To date, I beat 3 expert players and one candidate Master. No one will play me. So I have to play Kasparov computers.
that is impressive. I taught my granddaughter to play, my wife knows the game, and my son as well it's definitely something that requires the right frame of mind when you sit down to play a match
-- it occurs to me I've not played in a while now. I think it's time to get those matches going again.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh now everyone even the sneaky Chinese fakers will know.
If China can fake everything under the Sun, why can they not fake US size bolts, threads, and nuts?
I'm pretty sure they're aware

If you're still concerned about this guitars authenticity, anything that's NOT a USA Gibson make/model will have an Allen Wrench fitting to adjust the truss rod.
That's usually as far as you need to look to confirm right now anyway.

Yeah, but I still think there are 0 - Zero, confirmed deaths due to marijuana. Cigarettes have been known to kill for decades.
Most smokers smoke many cigarettes in a 24 hour span. No one (well other than willie nelson maybe) smokes that many Js in a day. -- But he kind of defies the since given his age and all

I'm thinkin of going to edibles as my lungs are having a hard time with pipes and vapes.🙃
they are a good alternative, but you have to find and know your tolerance level.
I must be a lightweight with those b/c I find that a very little amount works ok for me.
they sneak up on me too. takes about 45 to 60 minutes to kick in and then BANG! "oh, there it is!"
I stay away from the vapes, I just don't trust "the science" there..
it's still crap I'm inhaling...

The intonation on my new Martin HD-28 was way off. I contacted Martin and got a reply from then-head guy Mike Longworth that if I "was offended by normal intonation" I could take it to a luthier." I did just that; Steve Triplett set her up with a compensated saddle and she was just fine.
Normal Intonation? What the heck is that supposed to mean? LOL!

Does anyone ever eat their case candy?
ah -- something to ponder, will these manufactures have to start placing warnings on that stuff like on pizza boxes??
Man! are we getting that dumb?
Thankfully so far only Sweetwater offers edibles.

I have 6 Gibson's, 5 bought new. none came with a COA
just the usual warranty and final inspection cards.
For me? I think it's more important to be able to spot a fake, than have someone show me a document that can be as phony as a $3 bill
