  1. Check this out folks http://m.ebay.com/itm/2007-GIBSON-SG-3-pickups-NEAR-MINT-/221831207713?nav=SEARCH
  2. Very nice custom i like it i also like the fender amps :) Heres a sg 3 on ebay just like mine http://m.ebay.com/itm/271895718118?nav=SEARCH Regards
  3. I agree I think yes the SG s 3 are the best and here's why. First of all I like the neck and weight better then the less pauls. You and I think many will agree that the 57's pick ups are the closest thing to The paf that have ever been created 490 pickups sound a little brittle to my ears where classic 57 has a nice smooth tone but when you push them to the edge you get that slight brown breakup from them. And of course you have the six different options on a SG three that you don't get with many other guitars I have actually thought to put in a stellartone on mine to increase the amount of variations but I do like the way it sounds so I'm not sure if I want to mess with it. Cheers
  4. Cb you have to buy a new sg to get things going again 📷 Lol
  5. The sg 3 has the chicken head 6 way switch and it engages neck, neck middle, bridge middle, middle alone, bridge and neck or bridge alone. When you engage two "57" pickups at full power its very nice tones. Regards tom
  6. Hey c.b. Thats amazing because i had played when younger but somehow lost. interest and then started again about the time i bought the sg 3 and started this thread. I love the p90 sound and martin barre used( jethro tull ) and leslie west and countless others. the p90 just has that certain raw tone to it. The sg 3 faded was also a amazing bargin when released ( 490 pickups) And a stripped down version of the sg 3 but those guitars ripped and i have seen them as low as 500 on ebay...great bang around guitar as its faded. I still regret selling the one i had.. Tom
  7. Personally i like the three pickup versions. When you engage the bridge and middle or bridge and neck the tones are really great...The "57" pickups are one of the best in the world i think.. Roll and Roll at its best... C.B. how many SG ' s do you have ?? Tom
  8. Cb that sg custom is a smoking hot guitar.... SG 's just can't be beat for tone... They are the best. Thanks for pictures .... Tom
  9. Charlie Thats a nice SG custom which is also part of this thread.. I had always wanted a custom but ended up with the sg 3 .. That custom is real nice..can you post more photos ? Regards tom
  10. No problem charlie. Drop some photos here we like to see them. Oh my sg 3 has a regular serial number. very odd .. but it plays like butter and growls like a tiger. The pickups take time to adjust to get them right though. Regards tom
  11. andy this thread has tons on facts about the sg 3. tom
  12. hi dawg can you send me you email here somehow ? thanks tom
  13. hi dawg the clip was of him in a store and i think he was testing that guitar lol i have not seen that clip you posted before today. where did you find that ? also as you know gibson has a new sg with "57" s in it and a slim.taper neck with mini tune system oh momma this is one fine sg dawg... thanks for photo .. tom
  14. dawg w.b. bro yes little tweaks to amps can make all the difference in the world. i just have that line 6 spider 4 monster but gibson had posted how to tweak amps for overdrive using amp controls so i followed the directions and its amazing just moving drive and volume around the different sounds you get. also there was a new jimi hendrix video on tv showing unreleased material but there was a short loop of him trying trying a sg 3 custom 67 maybe.... can you see if that photo is online and post it here if your not to busy ? i have no internet and only a phone here... rock and roll tom
  15. dawg i tried a old 5 watt gibson amp and it roars when cranked with the sg 3. i jumped the speaker to my 12 inch celestion and its amazing what 5 watts can do.. later
  16. hello all just watch jimi hendrix "american masters" video which aired for first time on 11-5-13 which includes never seen footage and interviews. at one point he is testing what looks to be a "61" SG reissue and in another clip what seems to be a white sg custom...i will try to get photo to post soon. thought this was interesting as he was always associated with mostly fenders. cheers !
  17. Hey dawg my friend has the mesa boogie ta 15 and i have to tell you the sg 3 rips with this amp. I can get all types of sounds with this but the amp is big bucks so i d have to save up.. Hope your well. Tom
  18. Hey dawg had to get a new phone no regular internet connection so on phone. Yes i tried both the marshall and orange and it seems the marshall has a wider range of sound then the orange. thing is trying to get the right size lol as i dont want to collapse my ear drums. I also played a older used solid state amp which sounded real good but wasnt as good as the marshall. I also saw a marshall head at pawnshop had four settings that sounded good i got the model number somewhere here i can post. This solid state line 6 spider 4 is not cutting it anymore dawg. Later tom
  19. Hey dawg dawg im looking at new amps. Whats your go to amp for the gibson sg 3 ? Regards tom
  20. hi smolder redawg is correct in i believe towards the beginning of thus thread there was a guy talking about it. i am sure it can be done. but i would go with the "57" classic myself and the classic plus in the bridge. to my ear they sound better then a stacked single coil or another brand of humbucker. regards tom
  21. Hey dawg come on back i need you man...lol
