Forgot to add, it was our farm in South Dakota after Deb's grandmother passed away, and I painted that house 3 or 4 times in the past. It is all gone and tore done now with it sold about 3 years ago.  I did art all the way through school and won a scholarship in art. Used to paint and draw for the guys at BN all the time. Then quit when I retired.

Wow.  Retirement is usually when people ramp up that sort of thing.  you know.....

More time for it and all.   [wink]

I forgot which one she said, That's why I didn't say.  Seemed to think it was the Korean war as she mentioned her Uncle James was in it also. After he got out of the war,  he and 3 other friends went to a Hockey game in Iowa. At the end of the game, and flying back there was a severe thunderstorm  and that caused the plane to crash. All 4 guys were pilots. There was a farm where the crash site was,  They dedicated a memorial  site there with the remains of the plane and the names of the guys in the plane. Debbie was never allowed to go to the site as she was too young her mom told her so we went a few years ago and its still there and told us all what they saw. Very nice people there.

Wow.  That sounds so Buddy Holly-like.   So, he didn't die IN the war, eh?  Seems reasonable that a paratrooper might die in a plane crash during wartime.

Just one or the other.  And what, If you know, was behind the nickname?

  3. The price would be OK if it was actually the one Tom owned and played.  But for a knock-off featuring a machine stamped signature?   HOLY SCAM Batman!  The JOKER must be behind this 'cause they GOTTA be joking!  [omg]

That's OK.  Your last part up there makes sense.  I tried to get my two daughters interested in playing guitar and bought a cheap-o acoustic at a local shop for $25.   But idiot me didn't think to get one with nylon strings so they wouldn't be as hard on their little fingers as steel strings and discourage them, which is what happened.

And don't worry about not playing AC/DC rhythms perfectly.  At least you're playing and can move on to learning better music  [wink]

    My philosophy is----

Whether you just learn three chord tunes or some with more, the important thing is that you're making music!

And that's always a beautiful thing.  [smile]

I meant sliding as in sliding up or down the neck when playing.

No the frets seem fine the board just has a very rough texture

Ah!  I thought you meant bending notes seemed restricted.  I suppose all the suggestions are good ones, but knowing my limitations I'd first consider seeking out a luthier.  And yes, depending on how long it's been between string changes often I'll clean the fretboard with OLD ENGLISH wood cleaner then treat it with their lemon oil.  I suppose it keeps my board from developing the same problem.

Looks like rain every day this week. That spoiled my plans of anything outside. We have Reagan today & tomorrow and Thursday to entertain us. Other than that, I may finish the painting I'm doing for Deb.

So, what kind of painting is it?  A portrait, landscape,  or some kind of still life?  [wink]

Yep!  I didn't know any of them. I had to look them all up to see what they meant.  Her dad was 100% Polish,  He died in a airplane crash when she was 14. He was a paratrooper in the war.

Assuming both he and she are Americans, you'd have to be more specific as to which war.   There's been four so far in my lifetime.  That is sad about her past though.  Me?   Well....

My biological Father was Polish/Russian, and my Mom was Polish/French-Canadian.   I figure the two Polish measures makes me 1/2 Polish.  \:D/   I said that to a buddy who joked and said, "It's like they say about black blood.  You know, only one drop of black blood makes you black! Same with one drop of Polish blood.  "  [wink]

  8. I do seem to recall a trend in the '90's of dudes in post-punk bands would hunt down cheap-o axes claiming they dug their crude sound.  Things like old Silvertones and Airlines.  And speaking of old cheapies,   my one and only electric was a  '67 Kalamazoo KG ....  This thing here......

Had that same "tabletop" amp too.  [biggrin]  The amp died sometime in '68 and have no idea what became of the guitar.

I don't know these words.   She said Prosze Bardzo.

Truly, I used up all the Polish I know.  [wink]  I knew that last one of mine meant "thank you", but never knew how to spell it, so I looked it up.  Had to look up Deb's too.  [cool]  So, looks like we're cool.  [smile]

That's easy for YOU to say.

OK.  My "Dziekuje"  means "Thank you"  and her Prosze bardo  means "you're welcome."    [wink]

Everybody needs to make themselves happy.

Probably one of the more sensible answers yet.

Look.  My "dream" for years was to own a Gibson Les Paul goldtop.  Ever since seeing Joe Walsh play one in an( and before they ever recorded an LP) appearance by The James Gang at Detroit's Grande Ballroom in '69.  At the time, one could be had in local music shops for $500.  But also at the time, it was all I could do to scrape up the $4.00 admission cost at the Grande's door.   But now I'm in good enough situation to get one, even at $6,000+  .    I just have to decide if it's sensible, since I don't play professionally, and still have dexterity issues sine my mini-stroke if that expense is still somewhat justifiable.

Actually, since I'm close to 70(this July)  the purchase of the Goldtop and too, subsequently( and another old "dream") a Martin HD-28, they would really represent a "bucket list"achievement.  And I did mention in another thread that I'm quite happy with the tone and play of my 49 year old Epiphone FT-145.   And really, (since too, I know what forum I'm in  [wink] )   it's a toss-up between the Martin and another "bucket list" item;   A Gibson Hummingbird acoustic.  In sunburst.  Which is not all that cheap either.

Does Gibson make anything that might hide the fact I have put on a few pounds?

Forget Kidblast's suggestion of an acoustic.  I too, have put on several pounds over the years, and playing my acoustic standing up and with a strap makes me look like I'm playing a Guitarron!

    ZEUS?  Ha!

My brother in law, who lost his wife of 63 years in 2020 on his 85th birthday, also lost his Jack Russell also named Zeus a short two months later.   [crying]

I know the feeling too.  A few weeks after moving into the house I'm in now ( in 2011) our 15 year ol Shih-Tzu Chrissy had to be put down.  And then in 2014 our 14 year old Shih-Tzu Megan passed.

They're both buried side by side in my backyard.

So, you have my most sincere condolences.  Pets are much more than mere accessories around the house.

I'd be Lady Gaga's boy toy for the right price and even listen to her c-rappy music and pretend I enjoy it  if the price was right.

Cripes.  Another misuse of the phrase.   Anyway....

You know this pandemic has gone on too long when...

... You start to think of face masks as a "fashion statement".    or.....

You've gotten so used to talking and listening to people talk through them you begin to understand  what "South Park's" Kenny is saying.
