jdgm
Um....it didn't happen I'm sorry to say. The video is Wes and his group on a European tour and playing on the BBC show 'Jazz 625'. It is true though that Monk and 'Trane played together for some 18 months - the CD 'live at Carnegie Hall' is probably the best though the studio stuff on Riverside (under Monk's name) is also unmissable. And Wes was in the Coltrane group (with Eric Dolphy!) for a few months in 1961. No recordings or video of this lineup playing exists, or has survived AFAIK. A pity. Wes continued to play "Impressions" - there are several versions - with his own group until his death in June 1968. Dolphy was diabetic and tragically died in 1964, Coltrane in July 1967. Regards!
