Great photo!

The beauty in focus and the, well, older male guitar player ---haha- out of focus.

I have seen a number of your older videos before and will probably buy some of your lessons when the guitar fund is replenished after the last 'buy'......(payday monthly!).

I was thinking the other day that we should ask you a number of questions - while we have an accomplished musician and teacher on the forum.

Perhaps we need another thread, but my first question/s would be: "How did you decide on buying the '44 Gibson LG2 Banner (apart from reading JT's book) in a 'guitarly' manner?" By that I mean from a performer and teacher's point of view....... do you teach with a similar guitar at actual lessons? Would you take the Banner Gibson on the road? That sort of thing.... guitar lover things.....so, what goes through your head when you are buying a vintage guitar....

hey Blues,

So I'll answer the questions here that pertain to the Banner. Any other questions that may have to do with my musicianship and teaching can be addressed in another thread. That way it'll be easier to stay on topic.

In regards to why I decided on buying that '44 Banner. I always loved Gibson guitars and lately have collected a few vintage ones. I hadn't thought about a Banner until I read John's book so as a result looking into buying a piece of American history was very attractive to me. I knew that Benn at Vintage Licks Guitars was a great guy to work (that's where I bought my other Gibsons) with so I checked out his site again and sure enough, there was that Banner.

As a player I knew this guitar would make a nice addition to my 'palette' as the sound was nothing like anything else I presently had. I have used it to teach with and it is also featured on my upcoming CD 'What You See Is What You Get.' CD Link

However I only use this guitar in my studio or to record with. Because of it's history I'm not comfortable subjecting it to the rigors of the road.

Hope that covers it amigo.
