Sitedrifter
Even though my 5* says they are nitro safe and Hercules says they are safe for nitro finished guitars, I have heard/read some few (very few) reports to the contrary. I believe the rubber used on the Hercules stands is probably safe but may have inconsistent manufacturing which could cause problems with nitro finished guitars. At least that is the only reason I can come up with for those very few guitars having issues. Well not to take any chances, my wife whipped out her sewing machine and made some black cotton flannel covers for wherever the guitar touches the stand. Take a look at the protection my J200 now has! (money Shot!!!)

NHTom
Cool, I don't leave mine on my Hercules stand for long periods, but If I did, I'd do something like that just to be safe. Nice idea on the black flannel-doesn't even look like its there. NHTom
Sitedrifter
All my hercules hangers are now fitted with the black flannel covers. Black flannel sure beats the look of old socks or draped towels and is softer to boot.
