L5Larry
Next Tuesday, October 22, 7:30 p.m., I'll be sitting (as usual) in the guitar chair of The Route 66 Jazz Orchestra, at the historic Sheldon Concert Hall in the Grand Center Arts District of midtown St. Louis. Tickets are $10 at the door. The World Series doesn't start until Wednesday evening, so take a break from post-season baseball for some great big band music. The "Route 66 Jazz Orchestra" is a 20-piece big band in the image of the great bands such as that of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, but also playing modern charts. We will also be featuring our two vocalists (our "girl singer" and "boy singer" as they used to be called), for some great standards. If you've never experienced the power and dynamics of a full "jazz orchestra", or the "perfect acoustics" of what has been called the "Carnegie Hall of St. Louis", here's your chance. The band lineup consists of 5 saxes, 4 trombones, 5 trumpets, guitar, bass, piano, drums, and two vocalists. Come out and join the fun. L5Larry
Shameless Bump! Did I tell you we're recording this concert for a live album. You just might get your "whoop" or whistle on the CD.
