aomena
hey guys, I was wondering if going up on string gauge(.13) can make an Epiphone ls headstock more suitable for breakage. Any ideas? thanks!
rct
No, it won't, your guitar will be fine with whatever you put on it. rct
Whitmore Willy
Aomena, Most (not all) Epi electrics come with 10's. What I would subscribe to is the idea that changing gauge will effect neck relief. (not that I would let it stop me from trying) I have worked on some Epi's that were difficult to adjust the truss rod correctly even new with 10's. Additionally, The nut slots may need widening (not deepening if they are currently set correctly) to keep the strings from binding. Have you done neck relief truss rod adjustments before? Do you know how to do them correctly? It's not rocket science but it could be a problem if done incorrectly. (we can help if you need it) Just a thought, Willy
aomena
Yes sir, I adjusted mine for .13 My guitar is 20 years old, so I guess that means the wood is pretty dry. I just want to be careful about the headstock flying out lol I normally use .11 Thanks for the replies!
