Hawkesman
Hi. I've got a '09 Explorer which has developed a problem with the pot for the 496 neck pup. On 10 it's flat-out, but on zero it stays at about half-volume. Anything I can do to fix it, or do I just have to replace it? Also, if I have to change it, where's the best place in the UK to get an OEM replacement? Thanks.
bigtim
Why don't you try to clean it with deoxit or contact cleaner?? It may just be some dust that has accumilated in it. There is a small square hole on the edge of the pot, spray the cleaner into that small hole and then turn the knob back and forth. It is at least worth a try. It should not be a big deal to replace at all. OEM gibson pots can be had on ebay and or any 500K volume pot would work, good luck, Tim
Hawkesman
Thanks for the advice Tim. I'll try cleaning it, and if that doesn't work I'll just swap it out. Cheers.
Hawkesman
Tim - used some Isoclene on it, and now it works fine. Great tip! Muchas gracias. Steve.
